Final Project Reflection

1. The different projects we worked on in class helped me with my final project. First, by putting all videos and photos together, just like the remix project. Through the podcast, helped me use audacity for my final project.
2. When it comes to media I want to do like television talk show, sports broadcaster type of things. So it would be nice to be in front of the camera and word on speech for me personally. I would like to do more projects that we personally are passionate about, because thats what we'll be doing in our lives. Our best work will come from something that we care about instead of say doing a wiki or podcast about copyright acts.

1&2. I didn't really do a lot technically with our projects in the beginning of the semester, besides the WIKI so I thought i did well considering I was starting from scratch. I did this project to show everyone how close our team is and the growth we have been through together and teammates and as friends. This was for our 2009 seniors, to give them a little something back for everything they have given us. I was passionate about this project and wanted them to be proud of what little this movie is. I was representing all the other girls on our team through this video, not just doing something for myself. It's important to show and tell people from where we were to who we are now.

last blogggg!

I had a fellow classmate look at my video and suggest any changes. JM made suggestions that I found useful. I will being recording senior soccer girls' voices and having them say their fondest memory..or why they chose to play soccer here..or almost anything about their past four years here that is soccer related. He told me I should split my video clip in half and also get rid of all the zoom in and out motions. I still have a lot to work to do and i will be adding more things that are media related.

Final Project

I've always been really into photography, I like taking photos more than I like using the ones from "google images", but whatever works right? Most of my day I am listening to music on my laptop,in the car, or on my ipod. Anything to do with music and still images would be key. I have no idea what kind of project I would like to do yet. We're still working on one project, so I'm not ready to start something when I still have to finish.

I think that I will do a video mash-up with photography I have taken throughout this soccer season as a "farewell" video to the senior soccer players on our team. Maybe like a slideshow, involving several different songs, and pictures.

BOOTLEG

I chose this example of several artist mashed-up because it wasn't just two artist coming together to make one song. It is several artists and their songs to make one sick song. This piece was repetitive to me seeing as we just read a similar piece. Its an upcoming style that is taking the popular culture by demand. I do believe that DJ'S who scrap brought this new style to our society. Their creativity is picking out the "cool" songs to play and also to remix songs. For example when you go to clubs in Vegas they played "Im in Vegas Bitch" by LMFAO. It's interesting that Rojas titles this "bootleg" culture, I disagree with the word usage used to describe remixing and mash-ups. I dont believe that remixing a song is bootlegging from someone elses work. It is easy to take songs and people have these tables where they can add their own beats on any song that is in their library, and play it at parties etc.. I agree if its at a little college party thats fine, but when it comes to doing it for you're benefit to get your name out for DJing than that should be illegal.

COIP

Mcleod states his opinions and what he feels are our rights. He states that it is our "compulsory right to remake others' music has been in place since the Copyright Act of 1909". I agree with saying that copyright is outdated, there should be certain boundaries and extensions for copyrights. I'm really into artist like "GIRL TALK" who do exactly what Mcleod was writing about. They take numerous different songs combine them into one and they're their own artist name. Even though they are using another artist work they're creating several songs to make it their own. Which is their own way of their artistic music. Copyrighting should be more lenient when it comes to remixes and mash-ups, I have no reason why it should be illegal or frowned upon. Artist should make the music for the music and not for the money. I just this video to display an artist who has had copyright lawsuits formed against them, but this is an example of mash-up /remixing. If you go yo youtube.com and look up girl talk they have videos that explain their lawsuits made against them. I believe artist like this are indifferent and are not copying other artist, they obviously have to ask permission before using there songs.

podcast

I haven't ever listened to a podcast before that I knew was a podcast. I would love to create a podcast, it's kind of like your own blurb on a radio show, which is something I have an interest in. Fort Lewis could use podcasting for KDUR, they could make the podcast blurbs in an educational format for students all around campus especially in the English department. Sometimes its nicer to have stuff read to you instead of you reading it yourself in College. Podcast to me and structured differently than a radio show because they're not a "live feed" , they are pre-recorded to perfection to inform a listener. You can play, pause, fastfoward, and rewind podcast, in radio thats not possible.

MARRRS

Mars is Heaven by:Bradbury
This reading was great, I enjoyed reading a story rather than research which we have been doing for the last couple of weeks. It nice to break to read to.
If i was making this piece into a radio show I would definetley hype up the acting for each of the characters. In the beginning of the radio skit I would want to have like a backround knowledge to set the piece up by one of the characters. Id have the main character also do a narration from their point of view. To me a radio show would make this more of like a "book on tape" kinda deal and I'm more of a visual person, but if there were more descriptions made into the radio show, the audience would be able to grasp the story.
I read on some other classmates blogs sayin the desription might be too much for it to be on a radio show, but I think hearing rather than reading would really make a better effect so the listener could imagine everything, hopefully they wouldnt be driving while listening to this story. My favorite line of the story was.." The answer was interesting, telepathy, hypnosis, memory, and imagination".
Another major thing I would change is probably some of the words into simplier words, I do feel some of the more complicated words could possible get people lost.
