MARRRS
This reading was great, I enjoyed reading a story rather than research which we have been doing for the last couple of weeks. It nice to break to read to.
If i was making this piece into a radio show I would definetley hype up the acting for each of the characters. In the beginning of the radio skit I would want to have like a backround knowledge to set the piece up by one of the characters. Id have the main character also do a narration from their point of view. To me a radio show would make this more of like a "book on tape" kinda deal and I'm more of a visual person, but if there were more descriptions made into the radio show, the audience would be able to grasp the story.
I read on some other classmates blogs sayin the desription might be too much for it to be on a radio show, but I think hearing rather than reading would really make a better effect so the listener could imagine everything, hopefully they wouldnt be driving while listening to this story. My favorite line of the story was.." The answer was interesting, telepathy, hypnosis, memory, and imagination".
Another major thing I would change is probably some of the words into simplier words, I do feel some of the more complicated words could possible get people lost.

students today

The picture to the right is a newer technology which I am sure will increase more than it already has in the past few years. Students walk to classes, drive to class listening to music with those little earbuds in their ears.
This picture is a prime example of a college student today they are using cell phones for phone calls, texts, television, internet, music, and games. We are the young adults who grew up with various amounts of technologies and the cell phone I believe is the main technology that people use for vas amounts of time usage for a collegiate student.
This picture portrays a college students in the 21st century who are computer literate. Most college students in this generation are using laptops for school and personal usage.Thursday, September 3, 2009

reaction to film 3-18-09
We have made major motion films such as Brokeback Mountain that is a whole film based on a homosexual relationship. I was astonished to see that our culture today is more open than ever to two people of the same sex being together. This film was nominated and won several awards and the audience loved what they were watching.
I had no idea what happened in media before my day with the homosexuals, even though I don’t agree with it religiously. I believe if that is the way people want to live their lives let them if they find someone they love. No one can take the gift of love from anyone. I’m proud to be apart of a generation that is more accepting to topics that were looked down upon or made fun of in previous years.

women athletes
I was searching on youtube for topics I thought were interesting, and funny enough I found a documentary on the exact thing I wanted to shoot for our class. I have strong opinions on how women athletes are betrayed of course being one I have a lot to debate about. After going to Spain with the soccer team and playing three Women's semi-professional teams it's unfair of the a non existent respect men give women. We in the states are fortunate enough to have a lack of respect, but at least we are given some kind of respect. I believe the main reason men stayed to watch us play in Spain is to whistle and to check out athletic body types. Some of the comments made during the games were so juvenile and obscene. Hopefully there are people in our class that are willing to take this approach to our documentary project.

documentary
The film was about a man who was in love with Condoleezza Rice and went across country and every important movement that had happened in her lifetime; from her hometown to her first big job, to the white house and meeting very important people in her life on the way. I knew that she was secretary of state which is my opinion is the person who tells the President of the United States what to do or they ask the secretaries opinion on a matter and listen to their thoughts. I never realized how powerful of a woman she was and is. I got to know about her whereabouts when it came to where she came from, where she went, and where she is going. It’s amazing to always figure out so much about someone whom you barely know anything about.
This film was talked up to be so amazing, hilarious, and basically a documentary with a comedy spin. Personally, I thought there were only a few humorous parts and I consider myself to be a very sarcastic person with an erratic sense of humor. More than anything I believed it to be dull, slow, and entirely judgmental and bias. I learned a lot of good powerful points about Miss Price, this movie gave you one point of view about her and the beginning was very well thought out until it got to the end of the movie. It made you think these horrible thoughts about her that are bias.
Overall it wasn’t a terrible film there were good and bad just like any other movie. I just think if it weren’t so bias or dragged out forever it would have made for a better film. My favorite part was when he was receiving vocal lessons from a famous songwriter to try and win Condoleezza’s heart, I thought that was hilarious. I am glad I did experience this film, it taught me a lot and I did enjoy myself no matter my personal opinion of the movie. It was a great time and a great way to meet new people and see the community come together to show support of filmmakers that haven’t had their “big break” yet.

DFF
Tonight there is a showing of Courting Condi tonight at 9pm at the gaslight theatre. It is a free showing so people are expected to be there 30-40 minutes early. I will critique this documentary and get ideas for my digital video production class as well as media literacy class. Hopefully it will be very helpful in choosing what kind of documentary to write about and how different camera angles and story lines come across.

Bachelor

So the show the bachelor had it's finale yesterday Monday, March 2, 2009. The bachelor Jason Mesnick got down on one knee and proposed to Melissa Rycroft. She said yes and they proceeded to have a life together after the show wrapped. Us as the viewers thought everything worked out perfectly until we watched the after show. After the Final Rose aired right after the finale and Jason came on national television to break up with Melissa to her face and began to tell her he was still in love with the other girl (Molly Malaney). He just said how much things changed and the chemistry between him and Melissa wasn't there like it was on the show, but she was still a great girl. Melissa's reaction was similar to what I would have done. She was so emotionally upset she referred to calling him a bastard by ruining her one chance of getting proposed to. She wanted to be propose, get married, and spend the rest of her life with someone, even if it wasn't Jason. He ruined her dream by his proposal and basically taking it back.

merchants of COOL.
I can definitely tell that teens are the most studied generation, because we as teens or young adults make the following generation so we have to be involved while we are young. I thought that numbers of dollars that were spend by children and parents on their children was ridiculous. If parents pity their children they will never know the hard work of a dollar especially now where our generation is screwed because of the generation before us brought us into a shit economy.
Companies are smart by going to teens when it comes to advertisements especially Sprite. Even today when I see a sprite commercial I think they are way legit because they always have cool effects or professional athletes campaigning for them. Seeing athletes on television always catches my eye since I am one, and think to be a pro athlete would be the greatest job of all time. I'm sure many other young adults feel the same way.Sprite obviously caught on fast because they were the fastest growing soft drink and most likely they still are today.
MTV obviously isn't as booming as it use to be since they no longer have Total Request Live which is one of the main reasons so many teens use to watch it. I sometimes don't understand why I watch it I know everything is fake, but thats why the writers and producers are good at what they do to keep the audience interested in their so called "real" tv.
Corporations Movie
It's interesting how we watched this film because I went to California this weekend and attended church on Saturday. The pastor talked about greed and how it effects everyone especially in this economy today. Life isn't about materialistic things and seeing how much money you can make compared to the guy next to you. Life isn't a competition. In the film a guy had stated " We should have faith in the corporate world because it's always going to be there". I agree with this statement and I do have faith in hard working people who are trying their best, but only if they are doing it for the right reasons. Trying to help other's out instead of helping themselves out.
So many consumers get manipulated into buying several products no matter if it's magazine,Internet, newspapers, television, or just walking around and seeing people with media in their hands. It's funny to look around and see people wearing t-shirts with the company name printed on them. My aunt had told my mother that she buys her kids clothes at boutiques now because she doesn't want to pay for clothes and her children becoming walking advertisements. I happen to agree with her and in my closet it is rare for you to find a shirt with a company's name on it. Even a symbol from the company, I started buying plain tees that I enjoy and I;m not advertising anything by wearing it.
It embarrassing to be apart of a country who is full of greed and will test innocence of people to sell their products. I can't change the way the world is , but I can change the way I look at life and I don't have to be apart of how certain people live their lives based on the "green".

sunsets

I love this picture reminds me so much of the high deserts in southern California. For someone to get the perfect shot at the perfect moment is too cool. I love how the clouds scape across the sky and the variety of colors are amazing. You can see the mountains in the background that no one thinks California has..oh but we do!

Simulacra and Simulations
I didn't completely agree with this article, I mean the whole thing about "Happiest Place on Earth" (Disneyland). We as people understand that it's obviously a slogan to get you to come and it's not going to be the happiest place for everyone. Sometimes people like to have fantasies about stuff. Life is real enough for the majority of us and we like to get a way and fantasize about things that aren't reality. Its a part of life, we as humans do.
It was almost like the author was demeaning most of the society for being disconnected from whats real and whats not real. I personally like to think that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth and that sea world and magic mountain are magical places. Not everyone wants to face everyday problems all the time, it's nice to get away from the "moment" and pretend like you have none. Places like disneyland advertise that you can get away even if it's not really real, we as people can believe what we want and make it our own reality.

Media has an effect on almost everything i do and everywhere I go. I never realized how much I use the simple things like i-pod and my cell phone in a day. Media has such an entertaining impact on anyone's life. I find it a bit difficult to jot down every single media usage you see, walking outside you would have to write down everyone you saw wearing a certain brand of clothing and thats a lot of people. I have no idea what I would do without "my essential media items".

Many actors, actresses, and artists arived in their own particular style to please the fans. Some made the hit list and some made the thumbs wayyy down list. script. (short fiction)
http://warnerbros2008.warnerbros.com/hfpa/assets/images/SexAndTheCity_Script.pdf
I like how descriptive the script was, placing pauses, movements, and what the character should be thinking. The Dialogue flowed well together and from remember the movie and the script is crazy how everything came together so perfectly. The director really knew what they wanted in chanracters, camera men, and the story they wanted to present. It's really easy for me to follow a script so descriptive, most people just tell others to make their own interpretations, but it's nice when you have nothing to worry about and I feel the director should have their own interpretations and have people feed off the director's.

I believe that American Idol uses a lot of the "comedic factors" of singers who think they are good or are bad just want to be on the show as a way of gettin a bigger audience. Like it or not a lot of people rather watch others fail than achieve something in their life. Most people watch the first couple of weeks episodes just to watch the awful performers and stop watching when it get to the finalist.

I went onto Google and searched Budweiser advertisements in the search engine. The size of the ad I would say in a magazine would be full page length. I have also seen this ad as the ending for a television commercial. This advertisement hopefully is intended for adults twenty-one and over, because that is the legal limit for alcohol. Sex, could be male or female, the social class is lower to middle class by the price that Budweiser consists of. The details that suggest an older audience is just the fact that it’s alcohol and you cannot legally consume alcohol if younger than twenty-one.The advertisement gets our attention by the backdrop color is red which is loud. Everyone enjoys a nice cold brew, therefore they made water droplets drip from the bottle as if it just came out of the freezer. I believe the story coming from this ad is for someone to enjoy a nice cold beer, and only from Budweiser. The ad coveys that Budweiser proclaims to be “King of Beers”. To me to be the king of something you’re the best of all other options. The knowledge that is spelt out twice in the headline of Budweiser being the king of beer which means that Budweiser is the best that you can choose from.
Budweiser will quench your thirst with the ice cold effect trembling down the beer bottle. The advertising claims were straight to the point there are two headlines that say “King of Beers”, that directly on the bottle it says Budweiser. The characters to this ad is just one bottle of beer. I think the lighting and color effect of this advertisement is the attention grabber since red is such a bold color it sticks out of all pages of a magazine. When the white lettering is at the top center of the page on a red backdrop really stands out, even though it is small lettering. The contrast of the black coming from the bottom also makes this ad very “outgoing”.
The picture of the beer was taken close up, it doesn’t even show you the whole entire bottle just the neck of the bottle gives you a sneak peek to get you to want more. It looks like it was taken at a little higher of an angle instead of just straight ahead. The only accessories that I would point out were the drops of water, to make it appear icy, the banner across the neck, and how the lid to the beer is upside down. The ad doesn’t show the health concerns of drinking, the age limit to drink, the dangers of drinking and driving, or the nutrition facts.
I think the ad is very effective, most American’s love beer and the fact it appears to be chilled makes anyone and everyone want to try a delicious taste. This ad could be controversial just because it doesn’t state the legal drinking age to try Budweiser’s product.

This video of University Oregon Treatment center is crazy. They show everything that it is equiped with, they have their own pharmacy and dentist office. They have everything a training room any athlete could ever imagine. They window where you can see him than he disappears so that they doctor or whoever could get some private time with the patient. They have an underwater treadmill to get the injured athletes back on track.
"closer" kings of leon :]
Lyrics to Closer :
Stranded in this spooky town
Stoplights are swaying and the phone lines are down
This floor is crackling cold
She took my heart, I think she took my soul
With the moon I run
Far from the carnage of the fiery sun
Driven by the strangled vein
Showing no mercy I do it again
Open up your eye
You keep on crying, baby
I’ll bleed you dry
The skies are blinking at me
I see a storm bubbling up from the sea
And it's coming closer
And it's coming closer
You, shimmy shook my bone
Leaving me stranded all in love on my own
What do you think of me
Where am I now? Baby where do I sleep
Feel so good but I'm old,
2000 years of chasing taking its toll
And it’s coming closer
My sister introuduced me to this band called "Kings of Leon", I think that they're amazing and one of the best bands of this decade. They bring an older vibe to a much younger audience than usual. This song "Closer" reaches to me because it explains being somewhere that does nothing to you and just brings you down and you're looking for that one love for the rest of your life. You can feel something so good coming in the distance just waiting for it to come to you.
