Final Project Reflection

1. The different projects we worked on in class helped me with my final project. First, by putting all videos and photos together, just like the remix project. Through the podcast, helped me use audacity for my final project.
2. When it comes to media I want to do like television talk show, sports broadcaster type of things. So it would be nice to be in front of the camera and word on speech for me personally. I would like to do more projects that we personally are passionate about, because thats what we'll be doing in our lives. Our best work will come from something that we care about instead of say doing a wiki or podcast about copyright acts.

1&2. I didn't really do a lot technically with our projects in the beginning of the semester, besides the WIKI so I thought i did well considering I was starting from scratch. I did this project to show everyone how close our team is and the growth we have been through together and teammates and as friends. This was for our 2009 seniors, to give them a little something back for everything they have given us. I was passionate about this project and wanted them to be proud of what little this movie is. I was representing all the other girls on our team through this video, not just doing something for myself. It's important to show and tell people from where we were to who we are now.

last blogggg!

I had a fellow classmate look at my video and suggest any changes. JM made suggestions that I found useful. I will being recording senior soccer girls' voices and having them say their fondest memory..or why they chose to play soccer here..or almost anything about their past four years here that is soccer related. He told me I should split my video clip in half and also get rid of all the zoom in and out motions. I still have a lot to work to do and i will be adding more things that are media related.

Final Project

I've always been really into photography, I like taking photos more than I like using the ones from "google images", but whatever works right? Most of my day I am listening to music on my laptop,in the car, or on my ipod. Anything to do with music and still images would be key. I have no idea what kind of project I would like to do yet. We're still working on one project, so I'm not ready to start something when I still have to finish.

I think that I will do a video mash-up with photography I have taken throughout this soccer season as a "farewell" video to the senior soccer players on our team. Maybe like a slideshow, involving several different songs, and pictures.

BOOTLEG

I chose this example of several artist mashed-up because it wasn't just two artist coming together to make one song. It is several artists and their songs to make one sick song. This piece was repetitive to me seeing as we just read a similar piece. Its an upcoming style that is taking the popular culture by demand. I do believe that DJ'S who scrap brought this new style to our society. Their creativity is picking out the "cool" songs to play and also to remix songs. For example when you go to clubs in Vegas they played "Im in Vegas Bitch" by LMFAO. It's interesting that Rojas titles this "bootleg" culture, I disagree with the word usage used to describe remixing and mash-ups. I dont believe that remixing a song is bootlegging from someone elses work. It is easy to take songs and people have these tables where they can add their own beats on any song that is in their library, and play it at parties etc.. I agree if its at a little college party thats fine, but when it comes to doing it for you're benefit to get your name out for DJing than that should be illegal.

COIP

Mcleod states his opinions and what he feels are our rights. He states that it is our "compulsory right to remake others' music has been in place since the Copyright Act of 1909". I agree with saying that copyright is outdated, there should be certain boundaries and extensions for copyrights. I'm really into artist like "GIRL TALK" who do exactly what Mcleod was writing about. They take numerous different songs combine them into one and they're their own artist name. Even though they are using another artist work they're creating several songs to make it their own. Which is their own way of their artistic music. Copyrighting should be more lenient when it comes to remixes and mash-ups, I have no reason why it should be illegal or frowned upon. Artist should make the music for the music and not for the money. I just this video to display an artist who has had copyright lawsuits formed against them, but this is an example of mash-up /remixing. If you go yo youtube.com and look up girl talk they have videos that explain their lawsuits made against them. I believe artist like this are indifferent and are not copying other artist, they obviously have to ask permission before using there songs.

podcast

I haven't ever listened to a podcast before that I knew was a podcast. I would love to create a podcast, it's kind of like your own blurb on a radio show, which is something I have an interest in. Fort Lewis could use podcasting for KDUR, they could make the podcast blurbs in an educational format for students all around campus especially in the English department. Sometimes its nicer to have stuff read to you instead of you reading it yourself in College. Podcast to me and structured differently than a radio show because they're not a "live feed" , they are pre-recorded to perfection to inform a listener. You can play, pause, fastfoward, and rewind podcast, in radio thats not possible.

MARRRS

Mars is Heaven by:Bradbury
This reading was great, I enjoyed reading a story rather than research which we have been doing for the last couple of weeks. It nice to break to read to.
If i was making this piece into a radio show I would definetley hype up the acting for each of the characters. In the beginning of the radio skit I would want to have like a backround knowledge to set the piece up by one of the characters. Id have the main character also do a narration from their point of view. To me a radio show would make this more of like a "book on tape" kinda deal and I'm more of a visual person, but if there were more descriptions made into the radio show, the audience would be able to grasp the story.
I read on some other classmates blogs sayin the desription might be too much for it to be on a radio show, but I think hearing rather than reading would really make a better effect so the listener could imagine everything, hopefully they wouldnt be driving while listening to this story. My favorite line of the story was.." The answer was interesting, telepathy, hypnosis, memory, and imagination".
Another major thing I would change is probably some of the words into simplier words, I do feel some of the more complicated words could possible get people lost.

disrupting intellectual property wikkki by thee teach :]

When it comes to wikis I had always thought that anyone can go on and edit and change everything, but I didn't know so many people have their wikis that they are passionate about and when they see something changed they change it back to what they feel is the right answer or argue until someone wins. When it comes to intellectual property the piece explained various examples from artists and writers."For example, the ability of an individual to manipulate digital music files through ripping, copying, downloading, and remixing has set the stage". We are trying to find a balance of what should be legal and what should be illegal. This piece is helpful especially reading this in the beginning we need to learn to collaborate it's a group effort and even though people may have the same thoughts as you do or totally different ones...its part of a partnership that you have to work things out together to make it a wiki to show a community of writers. I do feel there was some tension between the two authors because obviously as individuals they have their own mindset and they're not always going to say, "yeah thats a good idea". They're is going to be agreeing and disagreeing. This piece definitely helped me understand the wiki more from a classroom stance than the other authors piece, which will help my group along our journey with the wikkkkkki.

wikki wikkki wikkki

I was not very familiar with Wikis before reading this article. I probably knew what everyone else does.....It's not a "legit" source when it comes to scholarly papers because anyone can go on the wiki page and edit in their own facts or opinions and erase someone elses. Some advantages to using wikis have students work together and collaborating to share their own ideas on certain topics. Some disadvantages are students can right some ignorant things, but its a good thing we have teachers who can go on and erase whatever is inappropriate in their eyes. I like how you can make a wiki your own and you can put your own flare on it just if it was your own webpage. You can express yourself on a certain topic just like you can on a social networking program. I really never looked at wikis to have a realtion to social netoworking, but this piece in a way compared it to one."By observing and participating in different parts of each other’s texts, students were able to better understand writing for audiences and the importance of examining their own language and structure". I thought this part of the entry was interesting, because you can learn so much from what others have to say and they can give you their opinion to something that you have written and the best way to learn is from each other.

Digital Millennium Copyright Act

Kelly, Jennica and I chose to research the DMCA Act for our wiki project. I didn't know anything about this act upon todays research. I still haven't really grasped the basic knowledge of what the DMCA Act, I got a general base that it's an Act passed by Bill Clinton in 1988 that coerces with the World Intellectual Property Organization and Digital Rights Management treaties. This website highlights the main point of what the DMCA is http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/iclp/dmca1.htm.

students today

The picture to the right is a newer technology which I am sure will increase more than it already has in the past few years. Students walk to classes, drive to class listening to music with those little earbuds in their ears.

This picture is a prime example of a college student today they are using cell phones for phone calls, texts, television, internet, music, and games. We are the young adults who grew up with various amounts of technologies and the cell phone I believe is the main technology that people use for vas amounts of time usage for a collegiate student.

This picture portrays a college students in the 21st century who are computer literate. Most college students in this generation are using laptops for school and personal usage.

blog #2

Takayoshi and Selfe's main argument is students in college need to be well rounded in not just reading and writing, but with up and coming technology it is important for collegiate student to be familiar with. I do think it is necessary for students to know how to have visual and audio aids with the help of text. Most students learn more confidently when seeing or hearing something to help them remember in a way other than text. Daley's argument is very similar to Takayoshi's by wanting today's generation to be able to keep up with everything rather than the previous generations that we now have to teach how to use the various technologies. The blogging article reached to me because I was just using blogging for my classes and not for personal reasons. Being able to share thoughts and ideas on whatever is going through your head. I'm hopeful that other classmates check their colleagues blogs and have some insight on them to make it more of a learning experience some students have some of the best input. Blogging is an "online journal" and we can use it for various reasons and should.

literacy blog#1

Daley's main argument to this piece is the general consumption of the word "media literacy". She explains that generally people leak it to reading and writing, however it has all aspects of media(film,Internet,book,radio,etc..). Text and pictures can both give equal amount of meanings therefore pictures and audio are just as important as print. We learned a lot about this is Media Literacy how it literacy goes so much further into detail than expected just like Daley says. When you watch a film you're suppose to be conscious of the color, sound, labels, picture, actors. I agree with her standpoint you can't just read something or look at something and say what it means to you, theres a deeper knowing than that. The examples she used in her writing were very helpful to comprehend her points. I hope in this class we disect this reading a bit further when it comes to media literacy and pull apart different versions of the media and know the similarites and differences.

1st day

My name is Hillary Anderson. I am in interactive media to finish my English-Communications degree here at Fort Lewis. I am excited to finally be moving closer to graduating, but I do wish i was back home in California soaking up the sun. I'm glad that class has started because that means no more 2-a-days for the women's soccer team. I am excited for this class to learn more about media productions. I learned a lot from Digital Video Production and can carry a lot of experiences from that class with me in this one.

soccer doc.

This week was pretty hectic with digital video and production, we had accomplished a lot; still having so much work ahead of us. I got some good interviews with my coach and learned a lot from him. While I was away for soccer our group did another interview with Jeff Jennings, a male soccer player. Unfortunately the microphone was not on so we didn't capture any audio. We will hopefully finish all interviews this week.

time for a new study

My current project "Time for a New Study" was elected to lauch for a 10 min. short. I was thrilled to see my project chosen , but got a bit nervous after everything settled in. I have a lot of history, information, and references for this specific topic. I am excited to start filming and interviewing. I have noticed not a lot has been done about this subject and I am honored to have a team beside me to help me capture this situation and potentially make something happen about it.

reaction to film 3-18-09

The film we watched in class on Wednesday was very informational on the media of homosexuals. I appreciated the examples as well as the interviews from what seemed like fellow gay and lesbian actors, directors, and authors. Forgive me if I am wrong I’m sure not all of them were, but a few gave off the impression that they were. I do believe that we have come a long way from black and white movies to now television shows that are based on only homosexuals. For example; Will and Grace is based on a gay man living with a straight woman and a “typical” gay friend(Jack) and a kooky friend Karen. In the documentary they were saying that they would only portray the typical “gay guy” as feminine and comedic as if it were a joke. Will and Grace shows us that the character of Will comes off as a straight man with his mannerisms and is gay.
We have made major motion films such as Brokeback Mountain that is a whole film based on a homosexual relationship. I was astonished to see that our culture today is more open than ever to two people of the same sex being together. This film was nominated and won several awards and the audience loved what they were watching.
I had no idea what happened in media before my day with the homosexuals, even though I don’t agree with it religiously. I believe if that is the way people want to live their lives let them if they find someone they love. No one can take the gift of love from anyone. I’m proud to be apart of a generation that is more accepting to topics that were looked down upon or made fun of in previous years.

women athletes

I was searching on youtube for topics I thought were interesting, and funny enough I found a documentary on the exact thing I wanted to shoot for our class. I have strong opinions on how women athletes are betrayed of course being one I have a lot to debate about. After going to Spain with the soccer team and playing three Women's semi-professional teams it's unfair of the a non existent respect men give women. We in the states are fortunate enough to have a lack of respect, but at least we are given some kind of respect. I believe the main reason men stayed to watch us play in Spain is to whistle and to check out athletic body types. Some of the comments made during the games were so juvenile and obscene. Hopefully there are people in our class that are willing to take this approach to our documentary project.

fc barcelona

FC Barcelona is professional futbol(soccer) team in Spain. I was lucky enough to have enjoyed watching one of their games from nose bleed seats. It's amazing how much money you must pay to get into the game. I saw FC Barcelona play Leon from France. It was amazing to see how big of a sport futbol is in Europe compared to the states, but I am lucky enough to play for a women's team in the states because men there laugh in disgust at women athletes. The next game Barcelona will be challenging is Málaga C.F. The game is scheduled for March 22, 2009.

documentary

Courting Condi was an independent documentary film that was presented at the Durango Film Festival that I had attended. It was my first time seeing a movie that wasn’t playing world wide. It was definitely an experience, it was good to see how other people make documentaries that aren’t hugely well known. Since our class will be making documentaries soon it was good to get different ideas on the topic. I think it would be fun to put a comedic twist on a documentary, but it must be done right and not just funny to a few but to the majority of people.
The film was about a man who was in love with Condoleezza Rice and went across country and every important movement that had happened in her lifetime; from her hometown to her first big job, to the white house and meeting very important people in her life on the way. I knew that she was secretary of state which is my opinion is the person who tells the President of the United States what to do or they ask the secretaries opinion on a matter and listen to their thoughts. I never realized how powerful of a woman she was and is. I got to know about her whereabouts when it came to where she came from, where she went, and where she is going. It’s amazing to always figure out so much about someone whom you barely know anything about.
This film was talked up to be so amazing, hilarious, and basically a documentary with a comedy spin. Personally, I thought there were only a few humorous parts and I consider myself to be a very sarcastic person with an erratic sense of humor. More than anything I believed it to be dull, slow, and entirely judgmental and bias. I learned a lot of good powerful points about Miss Price, this movie gave you one point of view about her and the beginning was very well thought out until it got to the end of the movie. It made you think these horrible thoughts about her that are bias.
Overall it wasn’t a terrible film there were good and bad just like any other movie. I just think if it weren’t so bias or dragged out forever it would have made for a better film. My favorite part was when he was receiving vocal lessons from a famous songwriter to try and win Condoleezza’s heart, I thought that was hilarious. I am glad I did experience this film, it taught me a lot and I did enjoy myself no matter my personal opinion of the movie. It was a great time and a great way to meet new people and see the community come together to show support of filmmakers that haven’t had their “big break” yet.

DFF

http://www.durangofilmfestival.com/
Tonight there is a showing of Courting Condi tonight at 9pm at the gaslight theatre. It is a free showing so people are expected to be there 30-40 minutes early. I will critique this documentary and get ideas for my digital video production class as well as media literacy class. Hopefully it will be very helpful in choosing what kind of documentary to write about and how different camera angles and story lines come across.

Bachelor

So the show the bachelor had it's finale yesterday Monday, March 2, 2009. The bachelor Jason Mesnick got down on one knee and proposed to Melissa Rycroft. She said yes and they proceeded to have a life together after the show wrapped. Us as the viewers thought everything worked out perfectly until we watched the after show. After the Final Rose aired right after the finale and Jason came on national television to break up with Melissa to her face and began to tell her he was still in love with the other girl (Molly Malaney). He just said how much things changed and the chemistry between him and Melissa wasn't there like it was on the show, but she was still a great girl. Melissa's reaction was similar to what I would have done. She was so emotionally upset she referred to calling him a bastard by ruining her one chance of getting proposed to. She wanted to be propose, get married, and spend the rest of her life with someone, even if it wasn't Jason. He ruined her dream by his proposal and basically taking it back.

digital video

This week we have learned a lot on Vegas when it comes to editing. Matt and Travis really helped me get a better grasp on it whenever we met up for editing sessions of our non-fiction film. A lot of hard work has went into this project so it is nice to see the hard work paying off. The in-class discussion of the videos gave us a lot of feedback that we can use to make our short film better. It will be cool to see everyone's finished projects soon.

burnin up for you baby

Kid is "Burnin' Up"

This little kid is hilarious singing "Burnin Up" by the Jonas Brothers. My friend sent me this video and I was dying of laughter watching it. He is feeling the song and trying to make it is own jam.

merchants of COOL.

The video of Merchants of Cool, was a bit outdated, so I am sure a lot has changed from then to now. I was twelve years old when this was broad casted and I was unable to know "pop culture" or whatever was "cool". Growing up my parents kept me away from watching anything but cartoons or educational shows. For this reason exactly, so I wouldn't beg or bribe my parents for things that I would see on certain channels.
I can definitely tell that teens are the most studied generation, because we as teens or young adults make the following generation so we have to be involved while we are young. I thought that numbers of dollars that were spend by children and parents on their children was ridiculous. If parents pity their children they will never know the hard work of a dollar especially now where our generation is screwed because of the generation before us brought us into a shit economy.
Companies are smart by going to teens when it comes to advertisements especially Sprite. Even today when I see a sprite commercial I think they are way legit because they always have cool effects or professional athletes campaigning for them. Seeing athletes on television always catches my eye since I am one, and think to be a pro athlete would be the greatest job of all time. I'm sure many other young adults feel the same way.Sprite obviously caught on fast because they were the fastest growing soft drink and most likely they still are today.
MTV obviously isn't as booming as it use to be since they no longer have Total Request Live which is one of the main reasons so many teens use to watch it. I sometimes don't understand why I watch it I know everything is fake, but thats why the writers and producers are good at what they do to keep the audience interested in their so called "real" tv.

Corporations Movie

The Corporation Documentary gave me a bias insight on the business world. I still keep an open mind about everything in life no matter the things I hear. I'm old fashion when it comes to seeing is believing. Gossip and drama is no way to change what you feel about someone or something. I was offended that a human being would be interviewed and basically come forward and telling the whole world that he has back stabbed and connived people into doing what he wants them to do. According to people like that money is everything right? Well, money is only everything when you make it that way and do whatever it takes to reach your ultimate goal of becoming rich. Since when does greed make you a good person in this world?
It's interesting how we watched this film because I went to California this weekend and attended church on Saturday. The pastor talked about greed and how it effects everyone especially in this economy today. Life isn't about materialistic things and seeing how much money you can make compared to the guy next to you. Life isn't a competition. In the film a guy had stated " We should have faith in the corporate world because it's always going to be there". I agree with this statement and I do have faith in hard working people who are trying their best, but only if they are doing it for the right reasons. Trying to help other's out instead of helping themselves out.
So many consumers get manipulated into buying several products no matter if it's magazine,Internet, newspapers, television, or just walking around and seeing people with media in their hands. It's funny to look around and see people wearing t-shirts with the company name printed on them. My aunt had told my mother that she buys her kids clothes at boutiques now because she doesn't want to pay for clothes and her children becoming walking advertisements. I happen to agree with her and in my closet it is rare for you to find a shirt with a company's name on it. Even a symbol from the company, I started buying plain tees that I enjoy and I;m not advertising anything by wearing it.
It embarrassing to be apart of a country who is full of greed and will test innocence of people to sell their products. I can't change the way the world is , but I can change the way I look at life and I don't have to be apart of how certain people live their lives based on the "green".

sunsets

I love this picture reminds me so much of the high deserts in southern California. For someone to get the perfect shot at the perfect moment is too cool. I love how the clouds scape across the sky and the variety of colors are amazing. You can see the mountains in the background that no one thinks California has..oh but we do!

Simulacra and Simulations

During this reading I found myself getting distracted quite easily, it switched around too much to really get my attention. It went into so much detail about what is real or what is said so be real, but really isn't. It was a hard read to follow, I had to read allowed to try and grasp what the heck this guy was trying to achieve by his writing.
I didn't completely agree with this article, I mean the whole thing about "Happiest Place on Earth" (Disneyland). We as people understand that it's obviously a slogan to get you to come and it's not going to be the happiest place for everyone. Sometimes people like to have fantasies about stuff. Life is real enough for the majority of us and we like to get a way and fantasize about things that aren't reality. Its a part of life, we as humans do.
It was almost like the author was demeaning most of the society for being disconnected from whats real and whats not real. I personally like to think that Disneyland is the happiest place on earth and that sea world and magic mountain are magical places. Not everyone wants to face everyday problems all the time, it's nice to get away from the "moment" and pretend like you have none. Places like disneyland advertise that you can get away even if it's not really real, we as people can believe what we want and make it our own reality.

Media has an effect on almost everything i do and everywhere I go. I never realized how much I use the simple things like i-pod and my cell phone in a day. Media has such an entertaining impact on anyone's life. I find it a bit difficult to jot down every single media usage you see, walking outside you would have to write down everyone you saw wearing a certain brand of clothing and thats a lot of people. I have no idea what I would do without "my essential media items".

cool kids

I dig Cool Kids, and I was looking up their videos on youtube and picked Black Mags.I like how the beginning starts out with an up-close vision of the girl lip syncing to a man's voice. The black and white effect makes it way different since it's a modern video. A lot of the camera shots are not of the full face which I think makes a different prospect. Or when it shows the guy riding the bike it will only show the handle bars or the tire on certain shots. I want to be able to be backing up still like they do in the video where they're riding their bikes towards the camera.

grammys

Last sunday was February 8,2009 8pm et/pt on CBS was the 51st Grammy Awards.
Many actors, actresses, and artists arived in their own particular style to please the fans. Some made the hit list and some made the thumbs wayyy down list. Katy Perry was one of the most talked about outfits of the evening. She wore an elegant pink retro vintage dress. Kanye West sporting the new mullet and rocked out "Swagger Like Us" with pregnant M.I.A, T.I. Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne.

script. (short fiction)

I found the script to sex in this city on simplyscripts.com
http://warnerbros2008.warnerbros.com/hfpa/assets/images/SexAndTheCity_Script.pdf
I like how descriptive the script was, placing pauses, movements, and what the character should be thinking. The Dialogue flowed well together and from remember the movie and the script is crazy how everything came together so perfectly. The director really knew what they wanted in chanracters, camera men, and the story they wanted to present. It's really easy for me to follow a script so descriptive, most people just tell others to make their own interpretations, but it's nice when you have nothing to worry about and I feel the director should have their own interpretations and have people feed off the director's.

I believe that American Idol uses a lot of the "comedic factors" of singers who think they are good or are bad just want to be on the show as a way of gettin a bigger audience. Like it or not a lot of people rather watch others fail than achieve something in their life. Most people watch the first couple of weeks episodes just to watch the awful performers and stop watching when it get to the finalist.

Ad Deconstruction
I went onto Google and searched Budweiser advertisements in the search engine. The size of the ad I would say in a magazine would be full page length. I have also seen this ad as the ending for a television commercial. This advertisement hopefully is intended for adults twenty-one and over, because that is the legal limit for alcohol. Sex, could be male or female, the social class is lower to middle class by the price that Budweiser consists of. The details that suggest an older audience is just the fact that it’s alcohol and you cannot legally consume alcohol if younger than twenty-one.
The advertisement gets our attention by the backdrop color is red which is loud. Everyone enjoys a nice cold brew, therefore they made water droplets drip from the bottle as if it just came out of the freezer. I believe the story coming from this ad is for someone to enjoy a nice cold beer, and only from Budweiser. The ad coveys that Budweiser proclaims to be “King of Beers”. To me to be the king of something you’re the best of all other options. The knowledge that is spelt out twice in the headline of Budweiser being the king of beer which means that Budweiser is the best that you can choose from.
Budweiser will quench your thirst with the ice cold effect trembling down the beer bottle. The advertising claims were straight to the point there are two headlines that say “King of Beers”, that directly on the bottle it says Budweiser. The characters to this ad is just one bottle of beer. I think the lighting and color effect of this advertisement is the attention grabber since red is such a bold color it sticks out of all pages of a magazine. When the white lettering is at the top center of the page on a red backdrop really stands out, even though it is small lettering. The contrast of the black coming from the bottom also makes this ad very “outgoing”.

The picture of the beer was taken close up, it doesn’t even show you the whole entire bottle just the neck of the bottle gives you a sneak peek to get you to want more. It looks like it was taken at a little higher of an angle instead of just straight ahead. The only accessories that I would point out were the drops of water, to make it appear icy, the banner across the neck, and how the lid to the beer is upside down. The ad doesn’t show the health concerns of drinking, the age limit to drink, the dangers of drinking and driving, or the nutrition facts.

I think the ad is very effective, most American’s love beer and the fact it appears to be chilled makes anyone and everyone want to try a delicious taste. This ad could be controversial just because it doesn’t state the legal drinking age to try Budweiser’s product.

This video of University Oregon Treatment center is crazy. They show everything that it is equiped with, they have their own pharmacy and dentist office. They have everything a training room any athlete could ever imagine. They window where you can see him than he disappears so that they doctor or whoever could get some private time with the patient. They have an underwater treadmill to get the injured athletes back on track.

"closer" kings of leon :]

Lyrics to Closer :
Stranded in this spooky town
Stoplights are swaying and the phone lines are down
This floor is crackling cold
She took my heart, I think she took my soul
With the moon I run
Far from the carnage of the fiery sun

Driven by the strangled vein
Showing no mercy I do it again
Open up your eye
You keep on crying, baby
I’ll bleed you dry
The skies are blinking at me
I see a storm bubbling up from the sea

And it's coming closer
And it's coming closer

You, shimmy shook my bone
Leaving me stranded all in love on my own
What do you think of me
Where am I now? Baby where do I sleep
Feel so good but I'm old,
2000 years of chasing taking its toll

And it’s coming closer

My sister introuduced me to this band called "Kings of Leon", I think that they're amazing and one of the best bands of this decade. They bring an older vibe to a much younger audience than usual. This song "Closer" reaches to me because it explains being somewhere that does nothing to you and just brings you down and you're looking for that one love for the rest of your life. You can feel something so good coming in the distance just waiting for it to come to you.
